Survivors: daughter, Terry Downing of Bandera; son, James W. Allen III of Houston; sister, Virginia C. Fried of Houston; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Obituary Text (with any comments in italics): James K. Aultman died at 11 o'clock yesterday morning at Bonaire, Ga. His death was sudden. He was 70 years of age and was born and reared in Houston County. Surviving are his wife, four sons and three daughters, also a brother and two sisters. Mr. Aultman was a well known planter. The funeral and interment will take place today at Union Church, in Crawford County. Note: This is Little Union Primitive Baptist Church on Union Church Road. Obituary Text (with any comments in italics): FLORENCE -- Nina Thames Bagnal, 86, window of Robert L. Bagnal, died Sunday at her home in Florence. Born Sep. 19, 1914, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Jesna Tobias Thames. She was a retired bookkeeper for Burgess-Brogdon in Sumter, a member of Dawsey United Methodist Church in Florence, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Snowden and Agnes Polk, both of Florence; two sisters, Ada Carraway of Manning and Bertha Lowrimore of Sumter; four grandsons; two granddaughters; 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the chapel of Stephen Funeral Home in Manning. Burial will follow in Wilson Unon United Methodist Church Cemetery. Nephews will serve as active and honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning. Obituary Text (with any comments in italics): DEATH OF MRS. E.D. CRAWFORD - Relations and friends have been notified of the death of Mrs. E.D. Crawford which occurred at her home in Vandorn, near Demopolis Christmas morning. Her death was a result of pneumonia. The family home was recently burned and exposure during the fire is attributed as the cause of her death. The remains were interred at Prairieville. Mrs. Crawford was the daughter of the lamented John Thames and was born and raised in this county. She leaves a husband and three little children and has a number of relatives in this county.

For 50 years she has been a resident of Greenville and during most of that time had lived with her daughter, Mrs. C. A. Davis, 112 White Circle. Mrs. Henderson was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church at Hodges but attended Tabernacle Baptist Church in Greenville. Her husband, John H. Henderson, survives her with 2 daughters, Mrs. C. A. Davis of Greenville and Mrs. J. F. Barnes of Rt. 2, Piedmont; 4 sons, Henry C. and J. She was a family historian, having published books on the Thames, Mixon, Terry, and Clifton families. Surviving her are: Her husband, Edward John Kaskin of Hampton, sons and daughters-in-law, Kirk and Lynn Kaskin of Eutawville; David and Alice Kaskin of Summerville; daughters and sons in -law, Karen and Mark Gramenz of Lilburn GA; Sara and Jim Laikam of Dacula, GA; four sisters, Bessie T. Owens of Hampton; Roberta T. Johnson of Varnvilole; Sheila T. Smith of Orangeburg; Barbara T. She was born Dec. 31, 1914, Robinson, Texas to Oscar and Catherine Thames. Mavis enjoyed crafts, bingo and her grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor, and never met a stranger. Obituary Text (with any comments in italics): Betty Jean Thames Moak, 75, of McComb, died Feb. 20, 2008, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. Visitation is 11 a.m. Saturday at Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb until services there at 2 p.m., with the Rev. James Ray Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Moaks Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Melanie Lemburg officiating. Mrs. Moak was born July 12, 1932, in McComb to Jonas Jacob and Ella Morgan Thames. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Mediator-Redeemer in McComb. She was a retired sales clerk and was the first manager of the State of Mississippi’s first Welcome Center near Chatawa. At age 60, she graduated cum laude from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond with a bachelor of arts degree in social work. She was a counselor at the Hammond Developmental Center and enjoyed her work as counselor for alcohol and drug addicts. She was a friend of Bill W. for 24 years. She was a lady who enjoyed life and showed it when she went whitewater rafting at age 72 and skydiving at 74. She helped organize the Friendship Water System and served as its first bookkeeper. She was a lady who was loved and admired by all who knew her. Mrs. Moak was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Pamela Claire Moak. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Willie Aubry Moak of McComb; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jay Thames Moak of McComb, Charles William “Bill” and Regina Wilson Moak of Florence and Thomas Matthew “Matt” and Deborah Love Moak of Brandon; eight grandchildren, Melissa Evans, and Cynthia, Rustin, Sara, Jason, Levi, Carlie Jean and Aubry Moak; and four great-grandchildren, Jonathan Evans, Anna Lynn Moak, Alexis Moak and Christopher Evans. Arthur Taylor, died in the Anderson County Hospital Saturday at 9:15 pm after several weeks illness. She was born in the Shady Grove section of Anderson County and was a daughter of Mrs. Luna Hannah Timms and the late George W. Timms. She had been a residaent of Belton 35 years. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Second Baptist church. Surviving are her husband, five children, James Cecil Taylor, Mrs. Bruce Myers, Mrs. Ruby Vest, Mrs. G.D. Meness and Miss Marie Taylor; six brothers, Grady Clarence, Carl, Fred, Lester, and Henry Timms; five sisters, Mrs. Lula McAlister, Mrs. Henry Cason, Mrs. Ethel Chapman, Mrs. Elsie Chapman, and Miss Sarah Timms, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the Second Baptist Church Monday at 5 pm. Burial will be in the Belton cemetery.".

Mr. Thames was born December 10, 1939 in Cades, South Carolina, the son of Lucille and the late David Thames Sr. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 1963, and was employed with Siebe Environmental Control. He was also a member of Edenton Street United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, June Thames of the home; mother, Lucille Thames of Florence, S.C.; brother, Sidney Thames of Raleigh; sister, Mary Gooden of Florence, S.C. He was a native of Sampson, Alabama, son of the late James Steven Thames and Jessie Gertrude Cannon Thames. He had lived several years in Gainesvlle, Fla., before moving to Waycross in 1958. He retired as a conductor with the SCL Railroad in 1978 with thirty-eight years of service. He was Elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Waycross and a member of the Men's Bible Class. He was a 55 year member of the Gainesville Masonic Lodge #41 F & AM, Eastern Star Chapter #474, Hasan Temple, Ambassador Emeritus with the Shrine Club, an honorary membership of the Frank C. Folks Lodge #192 F & AM and a Scottish Rite Mason. A member of the U.T.U for 53 years. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Otte Thames of Waycross; two daughters, Margaret Eunice and her husband, Dr. Newton Eunice of Pelham, Ga, Patricia Dryden and her husband, Henry of Woodstock, GA; two sons, James Howard "Butch" Thames of Camilla, GA, John Bruce Thames of Madison, Fla.; four grandchildren, Frank Eunice, William "Scooter", Beth and Julie Dryden; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. After his military career, he worked at the Vineland Development Center for many years before retirin gas the Asst. Supt. Age 77 years, five months and four days.He was united in marriage to Mollie M. Bryan December 30th, 1886. To this union were born nine children, seven girls and two boys. One boy and two girls preceded him to the grave. His wife, five girls and one boy survive. They are John D. Thames, Mrs. W.M. Henderson, Mrs. J.C. Kelley, Mrs. H.N. Willis, Mrs. O.C. Hickman, Mrs. A.T. Hickman; besides a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Zoar Church March 20th and burial occurred in Zoar cemetery with Masonic Honors.

Obituary Text (with any comments in italics): Martha J. Thames b 6 May 1825 d 2 May 1883, who married Rev. Milton Smith died a their home at an early hour on last Wednesday morning. She had been sorely afflicted for a number of years with an affection (sic) of the throat, and during the past few months rapidly declined until death released her from her sufferings. Few women in the county, were better or more favorably known. For twenty seven years this had been her home, and by a godly walk and uniform kindness and charity she had won the sincere friendship of all classes. She will be missed by many, while her memory will be kept green in the hearts of all who knew her. She was born in Henry County, GA and was the daughter of Rev. William & Rachael Thames, the former of whom is still living. Joined the church when sixteen years of age, and has ever since adorned the profession thus early made by a life of devotion to the Masters work. She was married 20 Oct 1842, and lived upward of 40 years the loving wife and true helpmate. As a mother, none were more tender or devoted. Her last hours like her former life, attested her unwavering faith in the Redeemer, assuring those around her that "all was well." The remains were interred in the old cemetery at 10:00AM on Thursday morning, Revs. Mr. Will and Mr. Christian conduction the services. To the sorrowing ones we tender our sincere condolence.

She was a native and life-long resident of Palatka. Her family has lived in Putnam County for several generations and she had been recognized as a Florida and Putnam County pioneer. She was a direct descendant of Harrison Rider Blanchard, her first ancestor to come to Palatka, who came here in the 1800s. Mrs. Thames had been a Girl Scout leader for many years. She enjoyed sewing, reading, fishing and genealogy. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in St. Augustine and was a former member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Palatka. She was a charter member of the Bass Capital Bass N Babes in Palatka. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert W. "Bob" Thames and her parents, Charles and Ethel Garrett. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Nancy Thames Tillman of Palatka, and Barbara and Fred Bozard of St. Augustine; three grandchildren, Randall "Hank" Tillman Jr. of Johnson; Letti Bozard Looney of Fallon, Nev.; and Fred Henry "Bo" Bozard IV of St. Augustine; two great grandchildren, Lacy Cathrine Tillman of Johnson and Grace Caroline Looney of Fallon, Nev. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence, Milton, John, Hugh and Richard Thames. Obituary Text (with any comments in italics): TIMMS, DOROTHY ALBOT - Dorothy Albot Timms of West Harrison died April 24, 2003, she was 88. Dorothy was born February 19, 1915 to Mr. and Mrs. August Albot in Mt. Carmel, PA. She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School in 1932 and Ashland State Hospital in 1936. She worked at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Philadelphia, PA and Grasslands Hospital, Valhalla, NY. Dorothy joined the Army and served in England and France's 201st General Hospital and Germany #114 Evacuation Hospital as 1st Lieutnant. She worked for White Plaines Hospital for 25 years, and was the head nurse of the ICU for 15 years, retiring in 1980. Dorothy married William John Timms on October 19, 1946 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in White Plains where they remained members. A son Robert Timms, his wife Mirella and two grandchildren Joseph and Jessica of West Harrison, NY, survive her. Her brother Elwood Albot of Mt. Carmel, PA also survives her. Funeral service will be hell Monday at 10 am at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home. Interment will be at Kensico Cemetery. Obituary Text (with any comments in italics): Jesse B. Timms, 79, of Lake Ft. Sumner passed away on March 6, 2003, at the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque. Jesse was born on July 27, 1923, in Winters, Texas, to James Leroy and Susan Lois (Condra) Timms. Jesse moved to the Lake Ft. Sumner area 12 years ago, but had lived in Moriarty for 26 years prior. He was a finish blademan in road construction before his retirement. At one time he owned and operated Timms Construction. Jesse was elected twice as a County Commissioner in Torrance County, serving between 1978 and 1981. He was elected Citizen of the Year in 1986. Jesse was a Charter member of the VFW Post #3370 in Moriarty and a Lifetime member of the American Legion Post also in Moriarty. He was also a member of the Moriarty Lions Club. Jesse is survived by his wife, Lillian Timms of Lake Ft. Sumner, a son, Jesse Wayne Timms of Moriarty. Also survived by two Daughters, Sherry Dennison of Moriarty and Nita Sanchez of Los Lunas. Also leaves behind four brothers, Alvin Timms, Travis Timms, Ray Timms and Billy Timms all of Lubbock, Texas. Also surviving him are eight sisters, Nita Condra of Lubbock, Frances Long of Oklahoma, Cletta Abney of Lubbock, Dolly Bullard of Lubbock, Pearl Shelton of Lubbock, Nancy Coppedge of Lubbock and Rita Thompson of Amarillo. Obituary Text (with any comments in italics): Funeral services for James Russell "Rusty" Timms were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at the Fairfield Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Carroll Pope. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Timms, age 53, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003. Born in Winnsboro, Oct.12, 1950, he was a son of Minnie Walker Timms Wells and the late James Mark Timms. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Pharmacy, member of Fairfield Baptist Church and was employed by Alderman's Drug Store in Sumter, SC., and had also served on the Fairfield County Aeronautics Commission. Surviving are: son, Matthew Tweed Timms of Blythewood, daughter, Jill Marie Timms of Columbia; mother, Minnie Walker Timms Wells of Winnsboro; brothers, Jerry Mark Timms and his wife, Marion Johnson Timms, and Spencer Lewis Timms, all of Winnsboro, SC. Pallbearers were Steve Taylor, Jim Schneider, Dave Schneider, Chris Walker, Bevin Funderburk, Kenny Goode, Tommy Castles and Harold Dese. Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society. Pope Funeral Home of Winnsboro was in charge of arrangements.

Born in Greenwood County, Dec. 15, 1917, he was a son of the late Leo and Emma Henderson Timms, both natives of Greenwood County. He was a textile employee and an attendent of the Faith Temple Holiness Church. Obituary Text (with any comments in italics): Greenwood, July 7 - William (Bill) Timms, 72, died in an Anderson hospital this afternoon at 5 o'clock after an illness of one year. Mr. Timms was born and reared in the Walnut Grove section of Greenwood county where he spent his entire life. He was twice married, first to Miss Janie Irwin. His second wife was Miss Emma Henderson who preceded him to the grave by several years. The following children survive: Mrs. J. T. Habors, Abbeville; Mrs. Roy Talley, Anderson; Mrs. Rufus Price and Mrs. J. L. McAlister, Hodges; James, Jesse, Clifton, Walter, Harold, Hodges and W. I. Timms, Elberton, Ga. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren. He was a royal member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church where the funeral servcies will be conducted Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Interment following in the church yard."

Mr. Timms was born in South Carolina and lived in Athens for the past 52 years. He was a retired employee of the Seaboard Coastline Railway after more than 40 years service. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Burma Bell Timms of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Butts of Athens, Mrs. Frank Nealy of Colbert, and Mrs Sara Forsyth of Denver, Colo.,; a son, William I. Timms of Birmingham =, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. J. T. Nabors of Abbeville, SC, and Mrs. Roy TIlley of Anderson, SC; one half-sister, Mrs. Rufus Price of Hodges, SC; three half-brothers, Walter Timms, Harold Timms, and Clifford Timms, all of Greenwood, SC. Obituary Text (with any comments in italics): Pine Bower News-- Aug. 5th the angel of death visited our community and took our beloved Mr. Catherine Tims. She was nearly seventy-seven years old, and was well known here. The greater part of her life was spent in this community. Many hearts were wrung and tears were shed by both young and old at the parting of this dear one. Funeral services were conducted Friday at Shiloh by Rev. L. Parish, of Fish. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, Mr. J. P. Tims; three sons, Messrs. W. P., S. S. and J. B. Tims; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Obituary Text (with any comments in italics): Polk Farmers Dies at Home of Son Saturday Evening-- J. P. Tims, 85 years of age, died Saturday night at the home of his son, Will Tims, at Esom Hill. Mr. Tims was a successful farmer and was a respected citizen of the county. Funeral services were conducted Sunday by Rev. J. W. Clinton at Shiloh Church with his grandsons acting as pallbearers. He is survived by three sons, Will, Shep and Jess Tims, all of Cedartown; 21 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was a native of Hodges, a son of the late G. W. Tims and Mary Richey Tims and had lived there all of his life. Mr. Tims is survived by his wife, the former Miss Alpha Henderson, and three children; George Tims, Mrs. O. O. Burnett and Woodrow Tims, all of Hodges; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Thomas, Greenville; Mrs. Minnie Milam, Spartenburg; Miss Carrie Henderson,k Greenville; one brother, Cape Tims, Hodges. Funeral Services were conducted at three o'clock this afternoon from the Hodges Baptist church. Interment was in the Hodges Cemetery.

Funeral services were held at Shiloh Church Sunday afternoon with Rev. Turner Worsham, Rev. J. W. Clinton and Rev. Garner officiating. Music was rendered by the Worsham Quarter. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Roberts Funeral Home in charge. Besides her husband, Mrs. Tims is survived by three sons, Joe Brown Tims of Piedmont, Ala., and Gordon and Paul Tims of Cedartown; four daughters, Mrs. H. S. Benffield of Statesville, N.C., Mrs. J. D. Reed, of Anniston, Ala., Mrs. H. W. McBurnett of Piedmont and Mrs. Frank Gentry of Muscadine, Ala., 27 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Mattie Dill, of Cedartown, Mrs. Mary Tims of Albertville, Ala., and Mrs. Ruby Gann of Chattanooga, Tenn., and four brothers, Robert Prewett of Felton, John Prewett of Albertville, Elisha Prewett of Chattanooga and J. Obituary Text (with any comments in italics): Mr. S. G. Timbs , 90, retired farmer of the Fairview community, near Kenton, died this Thursday morning, Jan. 9th at 4 o'clock. He had been in failing health for a number of years, but was confined to his bed for only three weeks. Funeral services will be held from the Mason Hall Methodist Church Friday by Rev. Lewis. T. E. Brown Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Timbs is survived by his wife and seven daughters, Mrs. W. H. Brooks, of Springfield, Mo; Mrs. Viola Fields, of Memphis; Miss Elizabeth Timbs of Caruthersville, Mo.; Mrs. C. D. Fields of Caruthersville, Mo.; Miss Martha Timbs , of Nashville; Mrs C. D. Morris of Rutherford, and Mrs. Ann Reed of Mason Hall. Two step-sons, Clyde and Edmond R. Flowers, also survive. Second wife was not named in the obituary. She was Susan Matilda Robinson, called "Maggie." Have census data from 1900, 1910, 1920 naming her as his wife. She was awarded a Civil War pension. This document gives her maiden name. The spelling Timbs was often used by the family. One of the daughters, Kathryn Fields, said that a school teacher told them that since Tims rhymed with limbs, it should be spelled Timbs.
